Meal Forward — 2025 Annual Report

2025 Annual Report

Connecting Communities with Quality Meals

Meal Forward is a Silicon Valley‑based non‑profit organization dedicated to providing essential food support to our communities.

What began as a grassroots response to the COVID-19 pandemic — raising funds to pay struggling local restaurants to deliver healthy meals to frontline healthcare workers — quickly ignited a wider movement. That initial, viral campaign demonstrated a profound community need and ultimately evolved into the Meal Forward Foundation.

21,300+ meals delivered since inception

Our mission is to connect communities with quality meals.

A growing number of community-minded restaurants are eager to provide food to those in need.

However, the bridge connecting these willing restaurants with vulnerable communities is currently broken by logistical bottlenecks. During our initial campaign, we discovered firsthand that connecting donors, restaurants, and beneficiaries is incredibly cumbersome and manual. Most initiatives rely on manual operations, requiring hundreds of volunteer hours to coordinate deliveries, manage logistics, and handle endless phone calls and emails. We realized this vital work doesn't have to be this hard. It can be automated.

We aspire to build the technology to seamlessly and automatically connect donors, restaurants, and beneficiaries.

The platform we are building is designed to automate the process of matching local restaurants with organizations in need of meals. We successfully launched our MVP in 2021. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we have experienced the realities of limited resources, which has slowed our development speed. However, our commitment remains steadfast. We are actively working to build and scale this platform so that other organizations can connect their local restaurants with beneficiaries with little to no manual intervention.

Our upcoming platform will automatically match beneficiaries with restaurants.

Each organization using our product will be able to set their own budget, manage their local ecosystem of beneficiaries and restaurants, and gain actionable insights into their community impact. At the core of this technology is an algorithm designed to find the best possible matches while ensuring funds are distributed equitably across participating local businesses.

Words from a beneficiary

"The hot meals from Meal Forward have been transformative for our program. When our students and their hardworking parents arrive at our weekly meetings straight from long days at school and work, they are often exhausted and hungry. Providing a warm, high-quality meal doesn't just feed them, it removes a critical barrier to attendance, brings our community together, and allows these families to focus fully on their futures. We are profoundly grateful for Meal Forward's vital partnership."

Words from a restaurant

"When Meal Forward first reached out, I thought it was just another catering order. But then I saw the kids' faces when we dropped off the food. That changed everything for me. Now my team gets genuinely excited on delivery days. We put extra care into every box because we know exactly who's eating it. It's not charity work to us. It's cooking for our neighbors' kids, and honestly, it's become the best part of running KoStop."

100% of all public donations directly fund meals for those in need

Transparency is at the heart of what we do. To ensure that every dollar from our public donors goes directly to feeding our beneficiaries, we rely strictly on separate, unrestricted funds to cover our minimal operating costs.

Our primary goal for 2026 is to continue providing critical food support to hungry children while securing the foundation of our matching technology.

Running a non-profit entirely on volunteer power requires immense dedication, and we want to be transparent about our growing pains. Our technology development has recently faced hurdles; we are navigating server stabilities and refining our matching algorithms for a full-scale launch.

In 2026, we are actively seeking sustainable resources and strategic partnerships. Our objective is to secure the consistent technical support needed to finalize our platform, ensuring we can scale our impact and feed more communities efficiently.

Our strategy leverages the conventional growth playbook for two-sided marketplaces
